If you’re looking to maximize the potential of your home, a warm roof conversion might be the perfect solution. Whether you’re creating a new living area or improving an existing one, a warm roof can offer both comfort and energy efficiency, all while enhancing the aesthetic of your property. That’s Just what a recent customer wanted to do but the shape of their conservatory was very complicated.
THE BRIEF
Our customer came to us with a desire to replace their aging timber and polycarbonate roof with a modern, fully insulated Warm Roof. The roof in question is part of a conservatory that serves as a seamless link between the main house and an annex, offering a unique, versatile space. This area is not just a passageway between the two structures; it’s also a place where the family enjoys views of their beautiful garden. As such, it was important that the new roof not only provided enhanced insulation but also maintained the aesthetics and functionality of the space.
The project presented a unique set of challenges due to the roof’s unconventional design. The conservatory had an unusually shaped structure with a large gable front, making it far from the typical roof designs we often work with. The large gable added complexity to the project, requiring custom design and careful planning.
Despite the challenges, our team was excited to tackle the project. We knew that the new insulated roof would not only improve energy efficiency by reducing heat loss but also create a more comfortable space for the family to enjoy year-round. Our goal was to ensure that the roof provided both practical benefits, such as enhanced insulation and weatherproofing, and visual appeal, enhancing the overall experience of the conservatory.
WHAT WE DID
Our team of designers worked closely with the customer to create not just a new roof but a complete transformation of the conservatory space. Understanding the importance of the garden views to the family, we collaborated to design stunning new window frames and doors that would allow natural light to flood the room while maintaining excellent energy efficiency. As part of the redesign, we included a new gable with large, strategically placed windows, giving the family the ability to enjoy their beautiful garden throughout the year—no matter the weather outside.
To make the most of the space, our head technical designer took charge of creating a visually appealing yet practical design that maximized the area’s potential. The new layout not only enhanced the aesthetic of the space but also utilized the available square footage in a more efficient way, making it more functional for everyday use. The integration of high-quality materials, such as premium insulation and custom-designed frames, ensured that the new conservatory would be a comfortable and stylish retreat for the family to enjoy. Throughout the process, we worked closely with Supalite, the manufacturers of the roof system, to ensure that every aspect of the design met the customer’s specific needs.
