THE BRIEF
Our customer came to us with a clear vision: they wanted to transform their outdated conservatory into a space they could enjoy all year round. Their goals were comfort, style, and versatility. They dreamed of a bright, open extension filled with natural light, complete with sleek bifold doors that would create a seamless connection to the garden. Most importantly, they needed a solution that would eliminate the extreme temperatures that made the conservatory unusable in both winter and summer.
Meeting the customer’s expectations meant careful planning and attention to detail. One of the key challenges was incorporating a log burner into the design. At the same time, we needed to ensure the new extension blended seamlessly with the existing home, maintaining its original character and charm. Balancing modern upgrades with traditional aesthetics was essential to achieving a space that felt both fresh and in harmony with the rest of the property.
Despite the challenges, our team was excited to tackle the project. The first step with any conservatory is design. Our designers worked with our customer to build a 3D model of the finished product for the customer to visualise their new space. Once that was approved it was on to building.
WHAT WE DID
As work began on the extension, we encountered an issue with unstable ground that could have compromised the long-term stability of the build. To ensure a solid foundation, we used pile-driven supports—a proven method that allowed us to create a strong, level base capable of supporting the structure for many years to come. This not only gave the customer peace of mind but also ensured the extension would meet building standards without compromise.
With the foundations in place, we focused on creating a space that would feel bright and welcoming all year round. Large windows and strategically placed glazing (including sky vistas placed in the roof with self cleaning glass) were used to flood the room with natural light during the day. For the darker evenings, we installed integrated lighting both inside and out, providing a warm, inviting atmosphere whatever the time of day. Every detail was considered to make this a comfortable, stylish space that could be enjoyed in every season.
